Women

The African woman is a symbol of strength, perseverance and nationhood.  A ZPDP government will strengthen the position of Zimbabwe’s women as the cornerstones of Zimbabwean society.  Our government will ensure women are given the total and requisite support in the home, respect in the workplace and advancement in nation building.

A ZPDP government will ensure a significant quota of senior government and civil service positions are allocated to women. Our government will seek to promote gender equity at the workplace and in society at large.  The ZPDP will support the promotion of increased girl child support and access to education, health and employment.  All other socio-economic factors and services will be tailored to be gender sensitive with a view to eliminate the negative socio-cultural practices that discriminate against women.

Children and Youth

The ZPDP is committed to the effective development of Zimbabwe’s children and youth to enable them to realize their full potential.  Our government will work with families, child agencies and relevant stakeholders in the development and protection of Zimbabwean children.  Particular emphasis will be placed on orphaned children that don’t have families to support them.

We recognize that the ongoing corruption across Zimbabwe is robbing our people of efficient service delivery and the problem lies not only in the lack of efficient monitoring systems and accountability, but the lack of the tension of public officials with strong moral character, honesty and integrity.

The ZPDP will fight to stop endemic corruption and the lack of accountability particularly among public institutions entrusted with safeguarding the interests and resources of all Zimbabweans.  We will work through independent NGOs and advisory bodies to establish policies for strengthening anti-corruption efforts in our country.

We will make the price of corruption so high that it will be a commodity very few people will seek to acquire.  Any allegations of corruption shall be promptly investigated and we will not make any excuses for corrupt Ministers, officials, public and private office-holders as well as givers and takers of corrupting gifts and bribes.
