A ZPDP government will work to establish a stable, predictable and transparent trade environment that is conducive to private sector investment and loaded with export incentives. A ZPDP government will implement an aggressive export trade quality policy to restore Zimbabwe’s damaged international trade relations and assist our entrepreneurs and manufacturers to compete efficiently and effectively on the global marketplace.
A ZPDP government will adopt measures that attract foreign and domestic investment as a means of accelerating the acquisition of modern production technology, expanding and diversifying the production base of the economy, and thereby creating an internationally competitive economy. Measures will be put in place to safeguard local manufacturers from the influx of cheap and substandard foreign goods.
Tourism
Zimbabwe’s art, culture, history, wildlife and natural scenic attractions, together with the warm hospitality of our people, make our country a unique tourist destination. Tourism is a major contributor to the Gross National Product (GNP), totaling more than 30% and employing 10% of the national labor force. A ZPDP government will work to promote Zimbabwe as an exciting and internationally attractive and safe tourist destination.
A ZPDP government will ensure the development and promotion of Zimbabwe's tourism on a sustainable basis for the generation of foreign exchange and revenue as well as the creation of jobs. The development of cottage industries and domestic tourism will be guaranteed while responsibly upholding a policy of national wildlife and historic conservation in synch with 21st Century environmental dictates.
We will create an environment for active private sector participation in the development of Zimbabwe’s tourism infrastructure, especially in the provision of hotels, tourist resorts, parks, lodges, camping facilities and recreational and entertainment facilities. We will not simply preach Zimbabwe’s safety as a tourist destination; we will prove it to be.
Industrialization, Science and Technology
The ZPDP industrial policy will seek to implement responsible science and technology driven measures to enhance the growth, momentum and global competitiveness of Zimbabwe ’s industrial and manufacturing sectors. We will encourage links between science and technology in our research institutions and their application in industry. Co-operation will be fostered with global leaders in science and technology. |
