President Robert Mugabe and his ZANU PF party will be seeking re-election.  This will enable them to continue to drag Zimbabwe down the same path of destruction that has ruined our once prosperous nation.  Once reelected, ZANU PF has no intention whatsoever of changing course, it will be business as usual under a ZANU PF government.

A ZPDP government will seek to change the direction and form of government as well as the current sorry application of the law under ZANU PF.  Our government will restore the rule of law in Zimbabwe.  Too many individuals are floating above the law today due to the selective application of the law.

A ZPDP government will guarantee the protection of every person in Zimbabwe by the police force.  There will be a re-definition of the police code of conduct as a means of reorientation for the police force.  We will restrict police powers to the protection rather than harassment of Zimbabwe’s people or any person visiting or living in Zimbabwe.   Every person’s right will be guaranteed and safeguarded without favor or discrimination.

Zimbabwean prisons and police cells are in a tortuous state because they have been turned into distress chambers where those in custody are often subjected to inhumane treatment.  The ZPDP will ensure that Zimbabwe’s corrective justice system is overhauled and brought in line with the provisions of the international conventions. 

A ZPDP government will restore the powers of the courts and the independence of the judiciary to pass sentences without the undue interference of politicians.  A ZPDP government will guarantee the human rights of every person who is in police custody, in remand and awaiting a trial, or in prison serving a sentence.  Under the ZPDP government, there will be no discrimination before the law, of any person regardless of their race, sex, skin color or political and religious affiliations.
